Analysis

Those in the media that are biased against Congressman Ron Paul’s presidential campaign have seemingly tried to slow down the support building for his free-market, small government, small military message. Ironically, these are the foundational building blocks of the U.S. republic.

But apparently mainstream American media does not see it that way. Nor do portions of the GOP power structure itself.

Documented reports at FMNN and elsewhere show quite clearly that elements of mainstream media and the GOP have little interest in allowing Ron Paul’s message to be heard. In fact, if it were not for the Internet, it probably would not be heard to the extent that it is.

It is even likely that Ron Paul might not have run for president without the emergence of the Internet as a powerful media force. The Internet has acted as a large echo chamber, resonating to whatever is stated by him – especially at GOP debates - and then relaying those statements to an ever-growing group of supporters.

Despite his growing popularity, elements of mainstream media, and even the GOP itself, have attempted to label him a racist, to ban him from the GOP debates and to de-list him from online Internet polls, claiming his supporters are merely “spammers.”

FMNN has predicted the next step in a “smear” campaign will be to attack Ron Paul from a financial or business point of view. Here are two articles that may indicate how the next wave of attacks will be coordinated, one from CNN, and the other from AP – June 6 and June 8 (both also posted at WhatReallyHappened.com).

The reaction to the CNN article can be seen at CNN’s politicalticker.blog – which received numerous emails supporting Ron Paul. This reaction, plus the much greater reaction to CNN’s coverage of the second debate - and the ‘disappearance” of a Ron Paul message board - may have temporarily derailed the CNN seeming effort to slow, the Ron Paul presidential campaign

However, the anti-Ron Paul virus is likely alive and well at CNN, given the apparent bias they have already exhibited. Here is the first report mentioned above - by CNN - a seemingly gratuitous slam at Ron Paul for flying “first class.” While this apparently constitutes “news” for CNN, it should be noted that the network has not exactly been a leader in covering the Congressional abuse of private and military planes for quasi-private purposes and endless foreign “junkets.”

Which GOP candidate flies first class?

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Seen on board the 6 a.m. US Airways flight 1159 from Manchester, New Hampshire to Washington: No less than five GOP presidential candidates: Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, former Virginia Gov. James Gilmore, and Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas.

Four of the five candidates sat in coach.

The lucky candidate who flew first class? Ron Paul.

The candidates were all flying back after facing off Tuesday night in a spirited debate in Manchester, New Hampshire, sponsored by CNN, WMUR-TV, and the New Hampshire Union Leader.

=====

Here is the second, an AP story about the anti-tax Browns in New Hampshire – featuring a much more serious accusation - as it lumps Ron Paul directly with Browns resistance, and frankly accuses Ron Paul of being “conspiracy” minded.

The article is entitled “Feds Say No Raid on N.H. Tax Evaders”

=====

http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/BO54448/

PLAINFIELD, N.H. -- Federal officials say they had no plans to raid the hilltop home owned by a couple convicted of tax evasion and insist the show of force was just a precaution.

Ed and Elaine Brown, however, say a raid was imminent and was foiled by a man walking a dog near their 110-acre compound Thursday morning.

Ed Brown said Friday that U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier was not being honest when he claimed federal agents were merely conducting surveillance.

-snip-

On Thursday, the Browns spoke with their supporters by telephone before their phone, cell phone and Internet service were cut off, neighbors were evacuated and police and federal vehicles blocked roads near their home. Their main telephone number was working again Friday.

… Officials cut the phone to prevent supporters from flocking to the Browns. They have developed an online following of fellow anti-tax activists, Ron Paul supporters and others who believe in a federal government conspiracy to deprive Americans of their liberties.

=====

The point that the Browns have “developed an online following of fellow anti-tax activists, Ron Paul supporters and others who believe in a federal government conspiracy to deprive Americans of their liberties” would seem to be an unusual digression for AP.

It offers a level of editorializing in an otherwise factual article that AP and other mainstream media companies supposedly frown up – as it is not supported by any facts presented before or after the statement.

Personally, I have to sit in the exit row seat or in first class, need the extra leg room as a past knee injury makes it impossible for me to sit with my legs all cramped up.

That story wasn't much of a low-blow to RP by CNN. If anything it helps him out, shows they have no real dirt. It shows that they would rather report about the first class plane ticket of a septuagenarian tenth-term Congressman than foreign policy, poverty, energy or the gazillions of dollars our gov't wastes each year.

Let them say what they want. We need as much name recognition as we can get for RP. The more they say his name, the better chance we have of getting it to stick.
